IFC Films has debuted the first official trailer for The Wedding Guest, the latest film from director Michael Winterbottom ( The Road to Guantanamo, A Mighty Heart, The Killer Inside Me, The Look of Love). This adventure thriller follows a mysterious British Muslim man, played by Dev Patel, on his journey across Pakistan and India. He's heading to Pakistan to attend a wedding – armed with duct tape, a shotgun, and a plan to kidnap the bride-to-be. This looks like a dark, suspenseful film with some intriguing twists – maybe – once it gets going. The film's cast includes Radhika Apte, Jim Sarbh, Harish Khannaa, Nish Nathwani, Meherbaan Singh, and Sidhu Manpreet. This all seems a bit odd from the description and setup, but obviously there's more to this than it seems at first glance.

The full cast also includes Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Eddie Marsan, Joe Anoa'i, and Helen Mirren. The high tech side of this seems a bit cliche, but the rest of it looks pretty damn cool - especially Elba as the bad guy. This is definitely going to rock the summer big time. After a violent incident that lands Bin in prison, they drift apart and together over the years, and the film acts as an examination of China as it has evolved since 2001 and also a look at how romance and relationships change (or don't) with time. Zhao Tao stars as Qiao, with a cast including Liao Fan, Diao Yi'nan, Feng Xiaogang, Casper Liang, and Xu Zheng. Whether you're already a fan of Jia Zhangke or not, this comes highly recommend - the time it spans is seriously impressive. Not everything is about falling in love, and being physical.
