Piaggio Zip 50 Derestricted Carb Idle Jet Sizes
There could be a restriction in the intake air box or the exhaust (or both). The vehicle may need to be re-jetted (carb) after the restriction is removed. Years ago I picked up 7 mph on a moped by just removing the baffle in the air box.
No re-jetting was required however the noise level did increase. Also, there could be restricters in the muffler that can either be removed, or have holes drilled in them. You can do a google search of removing moped muffler restricters (not necessarily exact keywords) and you can also find a nice performance air filter to replace the existing air filter, which may be very big, and bulky, most likely blocking a lot of air flow, which will give you more power. These are the simplest ways to increase power without serious modification. If you want to go very fast, buy yourself a speed kit.

Be aware of your state laws though, laws change when the definition of a moped (no more than 30mph and 50cc) changes. And removing your baffle will probably violate certain noise ordinances. Check the related links, below. You shouldn't buy Chinese motercycles! Don't listen to him! I have a boation, under your seat there is the compartment for your carb, well if you look at where the cable goes round the little reel type thing there is a little screw simply stopping your throttle cable pulling as mu ch as it could, 50% / 70%, somthing like that, if your brave take it out, you WILL be impressed. All of the above is nonsence the way to tune/derestict your baotian is simple.
First you should open the hatch at the bottom of your seat there you will find the carb remove the cap but be careful of the spring, remove the rubber seal which should be attached to a hard piece of plastic with a needle on using a small screwdriver undo the screw holding in the needle, on top of the needle there is a small threaded bit with a washer on simply move the washer up the thread to increase the fuel flux. Secondly at the front of the air box is your air intake tube with a small pipe coming off of it leading to the exhaust or manifold simply cable tie the tube to the frame but not to tight this will increase air intake. Thirdly drill ten 4 mm holes on the air box any way you want this will also increase air intake and acceleration and last of all the hardest one, remove the belt drive case and using an air compressor gun remove the nut on the left pulley/variator remove the variator and behind it should be one or two washers remove one if ther is two and remove it if there is only one then put your bike back together take it down a big hill and enjoy speeds of upto and around 65mph - 70mph with out spending any money. There are 2 main forms of carbs.
One is simple sugars and the other is starches. The simple sugars include fructose, glucose and lactose. These are found in whole and nutritious fruits. The starches are found in grains, rice, bread and cereals and starchy vegetables, such as potatoes. You can t est if a food contains starch by doing an experiment: add a drop of iodine to the food, and if it turns black then it contains starch. Obviously don't eat it after you have done so!
